Referee Grades 6 and 5 Attendance of an advanced clinic, passing the refresher exam , passing the physical fitness testing In addition grade 5 and grade 6 referees must pass a field assessment as a referee in a Division 1 game or higher. Must pass twice as many assessments as failed.
Referee Grades 4 and 3 National Referees (grades 4 and 3) must attend annually the national referee camp as sponsored by the National Referee Committee (NRC). It consists of about 2.5 days instructional clinic, written test, and the FIFA physical test. They must pass 2 field assessments as referee and 1 as AR (linesman) on games approved by the NRC - a list of these games can be found on the US Soccer web site and they are above Division 1 state games. Must pass twice as many assessments as failed.
Emeritus Grades Referee grades 3 and 4 can register as National Emeritus Referees grades 13 and 14 respectively, and referee grades 5 and 6 may also chose to register as State Emeritus Referees grades 15 or 16 respectively , if they have been at least three years in that grade and can not meet the physical fitness requirements or the field assessments. The Emeritus status of a referee allows him to maintain the highest badge of his career for life, without meeting the requirements of that grade, while he is paying the registration fees of the grade below and also officiating games at the level below. Once a referee registers as an Emeritus he cannot reverse it and become active again.

Each year you will receive in the mail the USSF registration form. You will have to sign up and attend an eight hour re-certification class annually.
